I have a westie who has somehow hurt his foot. We think he got it trapped under a door because someone opened it on him, he has either maybe broken his toe or hurt his claw, he is really upset about it and has gone all moody, my father is reluctant to take him to the vets. If we did would they be able to do anything? xxxxxxxxxxx

Why is your father reluctant to take him to the vets? That is exactly what you should do. Of course they will be able to help. Poor little dog needs some attention. At the very least the vet will be able to give him some painkillers. Please take him. If finance is a problem then contact the PDSA who may be able to help.

Good luck, and thanks for asking us.

of coarse they would please take him to the vet as soon as possible how would you like it if you had hurt your foot and it was left
If you absolutely cannot get to the vets, keep him in a crate or confined to one room. Carry him out to pee and carry him back in. If he is still limping after 3 days then he needs the vet as it is more than a bruise or soft tissue damage. You can try some cold theropy. Put a bag of frozen peas on it for 3 min then off for one min 3 times, every 6 hours. Check the paw for swelling and heat. Good Luck
