My dog has taken to rolling in dead rats found on the golfcourse. What makes her want to do this?

She's disguising her natural scent from other dogs and/or predators. My dog prefers dead seagulls on the beach :oS
Huuuueeeyyyy! and you let these things into your house afterwards!!! Do you people have kids? Do they play with these animals? and am i over-reacting?
Our dog was always keen on horse manure but anything else would do. In response to sft42, our dog is not allowed in the house, she lives in our backyard and we usually give her a bath if we catch her rolling in anything, although it isn't unknown for the bl**dy stupid animal to go roll in something else when she's dry.
My sister-in-law's particularly stupid dalmatian used to eat horse manure if it came across any. Not a pleasant sight first thing in the morning (or at any time come to think of it). I don't know why though.
