My friend recommended an electrician to me and he came to give me a quote (however this was never a written quote) on changing over a fuse board, bonding the gas and the water and making an electricial connection to a whirlpool bath. He quoted 310 but he visited today (i wasn't there only my dad) and he said that the gas is already bonded (which he notice last time) but he is still charging me the same amount (310). I have asked my dad to request a breakdown of the cost. I know every job is different but are there any electricians or anyone else who could gauge if this is a feasibly price??

The first thing to consider is if the electrician is NICEE registered, otherwise don't touch with a bargepole as he/she must give you a certificate. As the electrician seems aware of the bonding he/she seems compitant at least!
Bonding to earth is only pence in terms of materials and would have been included if priced by a registered electrician as a matter of coarse.
As for the charge - you gets what you pay for hopefully, though 300+ isn't too unreasonable IF he/she is qualified!

Hi, First of all I must correct stefos,he does not have to be NIC registered, but to change a Consumers unit(fuseboard) he must be registered with one of several organisations it is called Domestic Installer or part P

If I was just changing the unit without any earthing I would normally charge around 220.00 maybe a little more if wiring has to be extended etc, Earthing can be quite expensive as the main one to water, gas etc Has to be 10mm and earth clips are quite dear, approx 1.00 each, doesn't sound much but you could use 15-20 in a single dwelling, I wouldn't say you were ripped off at 300.00, It sounds quite fair to me.

Agree with Ray.
