pedigree dogs?

  • I have a collie (2 year old) and I'm convinced she's a pedigree but my missus does'nt . How can you tell if she is a pedigree?

To be a pedigree she would have to be registered at birth along with details of her family lines. She wouls also have cost over �400, so no, she is not a pedigree!


She could well be a pure Collie, especially if she is from working stock- eg a farm, but as you cannot prove it, she will never be classed as a pedigree.

If you know her last 5 generations she is a pedigree. Even if the dog breeds differ or cross during that time. A mongrel can be a pedigree of you know her generation history. Your dog is not a pedigree if you do not know here history, she can however be a full bred collie.

has she got papers or have her parents got papers if not then no shes not
