It's December, and i've just killed another wasp in a bedroom in my home - about the 6th since winter started. Any tips on keeping them out?

Whickerman - they're usually supposed to die off in the cold weather. We had a wasp nest in our loft and when we called the Council in to dispose of it they're suggested we save ourselves 35 and wait for winter when they would all die. (And they did!) Is this bedroom particularly warm and are there any cracks in the ceiling or window ventilation holes through which they could be coming? It's possible they could be in your loft, waking up on mild days and coming in and out under the eaves via any ventilation holes in the soffits under your eaves. If all else fails, you may have to kill them off with an aerosol spray. Sorry I can't offer any more helpful advice but I know they're not pleasant visitors.
I agree with Wendy on this one. My parents loft seems to be a particularly desireable location for wasps in the winter, and they've got rid of several nests over the last 20 years. We used to get them coming down through cracks in the walls, or flying through the upstairs windows from outside. Might be worth a check around but be careful!
I agree with both the above, their probably enjoying an extended life span in the warmth of the loft. Its possible they may be finding a route between the attic and the space beneath the floor boards via the cavety walls or air vents or visa versa.

I think it remarkably cruel to kill any flying insect you feel like just because it is environmentally attracted to your home Who do you think you are? I am repoting you to the authorities at once madam

I know of a woman in lancaster who collected a great number of these marvelous creatures and now uses them as a convenient form of transportation to and from the local market , by placing them in her bonnet, and the lift they provide is a welcome change form using the old shanksmare method.if you know what I mean
