Eek! I have just seen at least three mice in the garage. They are nippy little creatures and scared the daylights out of me chasing around the floor.
I did consider taking Dylan in there but I'm sure that would create mayhem and he might hurt himself.

I'll get the humane trap set up tomorrow. I need to buy some peanut butter.
Or...I could get a cat.

Get a cat ;o)
Remove the foodstuffs that they are eating in there Tills, or this time next month you will have dozens more. Or worse.
Question Author
Togo, all the foodstuff is in plastic, lidded containers. Perhaps they are sheltering rather than eating.
You need to find out where they are coming in or they will keep coming in, even if their food source is elsewhere
You won't fit a cat in the humane trap...
Tills they can bite through plastic containers, and will. I would check the containers and as the previous post advises find out where they are getting in. They never "go away" by their own volition.
// find out where they are getting in //

First stop; check around the base of where things protrude from the ground... Water pipes, gas pipes, electric (armoured) cables etc

I'll let you know how many we catch over the next few days.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll check everything out in the daylight.
I'm not venturing into the garage this evening. Does leaving a light on deter them from running around though? I could leave the garage light on.
Well they are nocturnal so they would prefer darkness
Start building, Tilly ;-)
That is so cute Chris. I used to have a pair of pet fancy mice. They had a litter of 5 and I named them after the fairies in a Midsummer Night's Dream.
Not advice but when I shared a flat with one of my brothers (Big hardly fella) but when a mouse nipped across my bedroom floor I’ve never to this day heard such a shriek and squeal at the same time as he leapt on to my bed. It was so funny this thread just reminded me of it.
Decent trap loaded with bacon. Snap the gregory and thats that.

No such thing as a humane trap and taking then out to the countryside is a death sentence for them anyway - probably within minutes.

And yes they go through the plastic for bird seed etc. Ate the lot of ours.
Morning Tilly, Have you found any mouse droppings yet?
Question Author
Morning, Zebu.
I haven't been out yet. Our garage is a tip. The likelihood of finding mouse droppings is minimal. I do know that when I do go out to have a look and a bit of a tidy up, I shall be tying some shoe laces around the bottom of my jeans so they can't run up my legs!
//finding mouse droppings is minimal//
Mouse droppings are inevitable. They're not potty trained and their motions are constantly. Look for evidence around food stuffs.

ROFL... The baby ones can get through the tiniest of gaps. Best take a stool too, just in case lol

The trap is set. 1/2 finger of Kit Kat.
Kit Cat... like it :-)

I hope it works or I might have to try something more substantial like a Lion Bar!
‘Togo
Tills they can bite through plastic containers, and will.’

Ain’t that the truth. The little sods ate though a Nutella jar lid and completely finished off the contents. It was full
