I think I can do more links separately, not sure if I can do short videos...
I have a rescue dog, given to me as a "cocker". She has had at least 3 homes in less than 3 years.... and we are not sure whether she may be a Springer.
Much bigger and heavier than a usual cocker.
Anyone have any guesses please?

Def Springer. Lovely dogs
I'd say a Springer.
Have you just got her?

Thanks :-). I have had her for 4 weeks now, as a "cocker", but I'm not convinced, and not sure the last people really knew.
I know the two breeds used to overlap, and there are similarities, but she seems so much more Springer-like to me. Fetching, digging, loves water and mud... just interested, really. 60 people on FB have said Springer so far xx

Thank you, bobbi xx I have found that, and also a breed "looks like" app, where you post a photo. Both have suggested Springer...xx
Do you know why she kept being taken back to the rescue centre?
There is a 'sprocker' - a mix of the two
It’s like Lola’s breed , there’s F1 and F2 Cockapoos, I cant rem which one she is though :0)
She looks like a springer to me with those ears and nose, have you checked if she is chipped.

Could be, brainiac xx tilly, the first people made her so overweight, she actually got taken off them. The second people got her and got rid of her due to lockdown ending and they are out at work all day every day. I don't know of any other homes she may have had. All I care about, is that she is lovely natured, great with children and other dogs... which she is.
She is also a healthy weight now:-) xx

She was, Tony, we have managed to change it to my details (a little worrying how easy it was tbh). She is registered as a cocker by the last but one person and with a different name, which I hadn't known, until the vet told me.
She looks so happy in her forever home x
I'm envious, pixie - if I was going to get a dog, that's what I'd get
Looks exactly like my mum's dog - a "sprocker"...
Question Author
Bobbi, she settled down so quickly. My 3 others liked her straight away and she has got more confident by the day. She is now curled up on the settee, which she was too scared to try at first xx
Brainiac, I understand xx dogs are a big commitment, you have to be ready, but i hope you manage to get one soon xx
look at Kennel club, cannot cut and paste my selection.
She does look very healthy and happy, Pixie. She's lucky that you 'found' her. What's her name?
I'd say springer just on the one photo.
Most cockers are solid colour, although people have been breeding for parti-colourations and roans for some some time you hound has typical springer colours.
They are both from the same root anyway - cocker was the name for the smaller dogs used for flushing woodcock from undergrowth and springer was the name for the bigger dogs used for 'springing' pheasant etc from more open cover.
Size was bred with size and eventually two strains developed.
As Brainiac says, people have started breeding the two strains together again to get an all-round working characteristic.
