We've just had a quote back from our Plasterer ... £680 to plaster one bedroom!! We're supplying all the materials so goodness knows where he dreamed up that price.

We spoke to a friend who is a Plasterer and lives on the same street as us and he's going to do it next weekend for £300.

Much better shopping around son in law gets paid with dinners and sandwiches for work etc haha

The only trades we're short on are plumbers. Know/related to loads of people in most trades.

I prefer doing my own decorating though.

That's how my dear departed mum used to pay me, bobbi. I now work to 4 sets of rates; my children's rates (they all insist on paying me), family rates, mates rates and my rates. Proving that you can (almost) please everyone all of the time :-)

Our friend wasn't keen to do it when we spoke to him a couple of weeks ago as he's doing his own extension and his wife has just had a baby, so I'm chuffed he's agreed to it now.

We don't mind paying but I don't like being ripped off.
