Why do you not see white jobbies any more?

Food for thought!

When did you last see a dog gnawing a bone? Bones are a good source of calcium and most family pets were frequently given these in past times, both for the calcium and to strengthen their teeth. One result, of course, was that their fces were frequently white. Nowadays, packets of food are the commonest way of feeding. Hence, no white fces.
poodle poo is brown like all other mammals - not white...

Thanks Quizmonster - that cetainly would explain it.

jko - this was not a joke question - maybe where you live they are brown but I can assure you years ago they were white and they always seemed to be Poodles.

Years ago, the tinned dog food you could buy was mixed with cheap packing such as chalk to bulk it out. Nowadays, it is cheaper to include other ingredients such as soya and even meat which can be mechanically recovered more easily than years ago. So less chalk means less white jobbies.

buudy, I assure you I know all about white dog poo - i remember it well - i am 33! ( i actually saw some a few years ago and took a photo!...felt a bit daft bending over with a camera and pointing it a dog do i can tell you!)

my point was that it has nothing to do with poodles - any dog could have done it, depends on the diet they are given.

the poodle thing was a myth thought up by kids or parents - a joke to explain the curious white poo. poodles weren't, and still aren't exactly common, and it was their strange appearance that made people think this must be their poo.

as i said the poo itself was brown coated in undigestible chalk and ground bone.

I myself had a white poo once - after having a barium meal at the hospital, which is a chalky liquid designed to show up on xrays - bleeurgh!

you said it "always seemed to be poodles" - how would you know that? did you ever actually witness a poodle doing one? and even if you did, was it more than one poodle or the same one over and over?

It is a childhood belief that has become, over time, an 'obvious' fact to you.

only today my sister told me she wasn't worried about quicksand as you came out at the other end in a cellar!! she was thinking of a frankenstein film and for years she just assumed it was real (she is 32!) - so it is easily done.

I too remember poodles did white poo years back but this does explain why it was white and it is probably a myth that it came from poodles. I remember seeing the poo as a child but as it was 30 years ago I cannot remember if I saw an actual poodle producing one.
