My dog was attacked by a staffie, the police aren't interested as I didn't get bit. It was completely unprovoked, my dogs were on the other side of the street, both on lead, not barking, literally sniffing a bush. His dog had no lead or collar and was on the opposite side of the street. It bee-lined towards us and attacked.

The police warden is investigating today... but what power do they actually have?

Patsy, I thought my dog was going to be killed. It was horrific. :-(
My heart goes out to you....
A friend of mine had her dog in her handbag attacked by a large pit bull type dog, the dog jumped up on her and bit the handbag but luckily her papillon puppy was shaken but unscathed by the nearly fatal and shocking experience though her handbag was wrecked.

She took a pic of the owner and dog, printed out leaflets and stuck them on trees and poles around the parks area with her email details and details of what happened and does anyone know where the owner lives and three days later she got a flurry of emails with a name and address including one from the owner, she met up with an apologetic owner who compensated her and the next time she seen that dog it was muzzled.

Community spirit at its finest and Who said there wasn’t any honor amongst dog walkers.
good outcome JA ^^

Me when I step in the faeces. It is rare to see it on the street in my town, but as soon as I am in a place of nature, it is on the floor and half of the owners assume they can get the plastic bag and throw it in the bush to hang there for years to come. It would be better to leave the poo on the floor than to litter the bush with plastic.
Good luck with your case op, relentless action through thick and thin red tape to put those in the wrong is the moral here.
Put? OUT those in the wrong
Eeeww, ghercian there are some real scummy people out there.

The whole point of baggies is to carry them to a bin where it’s out of site not construct a Christmas treesque “ poo bush” decorating it with “poo bags”

Exactly.
“ if a dog goes bad I blame the owner not the dog”

Agreed, dogs don’t attack, owners attack through their dogs with aggressive training or lack of training except in certain circumstances where dogs revert back to their wolf genes.

But regarding dog litter picking up the onus is 1000% on the owner who funnily enough usually like to keep their houses and gardens spotless and think it’s okay to use public spaces like a bin.
poos grow on trees here dont ya know !!
Lol how can a dog be unscathed in a near fatal attack???
Staffies are well known for being aggressive towards other dogs.

Friendly with family: Five stars
Incredibly Kid Friendly Dogs: Five stars
Dog Friendly: One star!
[i]More info: Friendliness toward dogs and friendliness toward humans are two completely different things. Some dogs may attack or try to dominate other dogs even if they're love-bugs with people; others would rather play than fight; and some will turn tail and run. Breed isn't the only factor; dogs who lived with their littermates and mother until at least 6 to 8 weeks of age, and who spent lots of time playing with other dogs during puppyhood, are more likely to have good canine social skills.[i]
Friendly Toward Strangers: Five stars

Also worth noting:
Good For Novice Owners: One star
Easy to train: Two stars
Wanderlust potential: Four stars

So this event was almost inevitable in the circumstances.

Some of us actually own them and not just read stories about them,
Elli
This happens all too frequently I'm afraid, staffies off lead usually owned by thugs who don't give a damn. I've lost count of the number of dogs attacked in my area and the local park by such dogs. Only a few weeks ago a collie had £2,000 worth of treatment at a vet's after a staffie attack. Sadly, the police do not act on dog on dog attacks as there is no law for this. I have written to the Government to ask why not and to see if they can do something about it, but I'm not holding out much hope. I'm glad your dogs were not more seriously hurt and I live in dread every time I take mine out because of these attacks.

Thanks for the Judgement hereIam, appreciated.
