A ginger and white young Cat has been making an appearance at our back gate for about a month or so now. My son started leaving dried food by the gate as he looked a bit dishevelled and nervous. Eventually, he gained confidence and started venturing down the path, so we left wet food out for him. He was quite skinny and his tail matted with tar or oil. Anyway he and my other cat seem to like each other and eat together in my conservatory. We got a local RSPCA person out two days ago. He said he seemed ok but not chipped. I thought it was a female, which I've been calling Daisy. Well was told Daisy is Tom! Any male names welcome..

Thanks Islay. I've been cutting bits off when I can. He's definitely relaxing as the days go by. He's still 'intact'! I've asked around the neighbours and put a message under his collar, ( that we put on) When he came around the next day it was gone. I must admit it wasn't very secure, so I will do it again tomorrow making sure it stays put. I've got a feeling someone has up and left the village and left him behind. Although still quite nervous, he's sweet cat.
I can't help myself, I have to ask -

If he is intact why did you think that he was a girl. Boy cats usually have big balls.

Remember to give him a name that won't be embarrassing to shout out when you are calling him in at night. :-)

Well to be honest I didn't like to touch him to look! When RSPCA man came out, he lifted his back legs and said it's a Tom. Let's put it this way, he's a small boy! Well, compared to what my cat used to.looklike!..

My boy (my avatar) is a total wuss and mummy's boy. His sister could be mistaken for a big boy cat - long haired and short tempered. She actually looks like a small highland cow.

It's good that your current cat hasn't decided that the new boy is just not getting to move in. They are unpredictable in such matters.

Enjoy your new boy - Boris? Bruno? or something to go with your other cat
He could be a youngster and if he has survived outside then he might not be fully descended.
