Hole in garden

We seem to have a large hole dug underneath out


kitchen window.There is never food or anything there


to attract.we noticed last week and my husbans placed a brick over it.But today it's been dug out


all around brick.What would do this please

The only wild animals probably capable of digging a large hole, could be a Fox, if he's digging den, but thats unlikely, could possibly be a Badger, looking for tubers, were there any plants in that spot at any time?

It could also be a rat.  They are determined diggers but normally their holes would not be more than about 4 or 5" diameter.

As it's right underneath your kitchen window, is there any possibility that you have a leak in your overhead guttering and water is dropping down and eroding the soil away?
