My mother was talking about a book she read at school when she was about 9 years old in 1942, with a picture in it called "My Lady of Greensleeves"  We have been trying to track it down.  It is not the portrait by Rossetti, nor is it to do with Frederik Pohl and his story of the same name. But it was definately pre-raphaelite "looking"

Mum doesn't remember the title of the book or what it was about, she was simply taken with this picture.

Does anyone know how we could go about finding a list of all the people who have painted a picture entitled the above or indeed knows the picture?

Was it a song or poem book?  As I seem to remember as a child my Mum owning a book that was presented to her when she was at school. I am sure it was a song or poem book and the facing page had a very colourful and detailed illustration in the same style as your Mum is describing. The book was green cloth boards, about A5 in size the illustrations were printed on glossy paper and the pages were stitched not glued.

I also remember that the picture of Lady Greensleeves stuck in my mind.

Not much help i'm afraid. I hope you find it.
