Does neutering/speying a female kitten at approx five and half months change their personality? My kitten is such a sweet nature and inquisitive, I wouldnt want that to change. Do they mature quicker after neutering ?

Not in my experience - my kittens have always stayed loving little things after neutering. It means their behaviour settles down too, and you won't get all that calling and having to keep her in when she's on heat, which is unsettling for the cat, too.

As you know, kittens can get pregnant at only a few months old, so I wouldn't NOT do it!
It didn't seem to change our cat Daisy.

At what age did you neuter?
I think Daisy was 6 months old.

Thanks Tony and boxy
No and No. I think I had my little female done at around 5 months as her little brother was showing interest from quite an early age. Had him done too and it didn't change them one bit! They are now 8 and occasionally he mounts her and she shouts at him so there is still some kind of instinct there!!
smurfy, don't hesitate, get it done. have you ever lived with an in season queen? Its murder.
I still have scars from my first siamese girl..... that was 39 years ago.
5/6 months, see vet. Depends on size.
Forgot to say, they all have a lovely temperament after neutering.
there will always be the exception to the rule s/chops but IMO there is no reason not to spey/neuter a kitten -many rescue centres do this at a very, very early age - it's a very routine operation. Most likely your loving kitty will become even more loving and she won't e responsible for thousands of unwanted kitties.
We had our tom cat neutered at about 8/10 months, he was getting pretty wild the vet used to wear heavy gloves when he went for his checkups. Took a while but he settled down and became a really lovely old gent.
