We all have thoughts about people less fortunate than ourselves as we have read in the papers & on here, but do you really think about how cold your house would be if you could not
afford heating? I wonder if the MPs think about that when they can claim what they can claim for within their so-called duties.

my house iS cold a lot of the time, but it's warmer than outside.... I think the MPs' recommended 11% pay rise is disgraceful, and so out of touch, I am glad they are thinking of not accepting it. We're funding their lifestyles.
Well i can't afford my heating on as much as id like I know that.

it goes on when Mini Boo comes home from school and is switched off about 8/9. If it get's colder sooner than we'd like, we just go to bed earlier.

"I wonder if the MPs think about that when they can claim what they can claim for within their so-called duties."

Nope, not even a smidgen :-)
I don't have to think about it I know how it feels!!

I live in an old house and it is nigh on impossible to heat the whole thing - so I heat one room!
What you have to remember TWR that it is withing their contract of employment to be able to claim these expenses - until that is changed there will be no change!

I doubt any of them give a damn mate!
Mr Boo is convinced that there'll be a revolution one day (the man's puddled!). He reckons one day the have nots will get so peed off and just rebel against the haves. So if he's to be believed- our day will come ;-)
I am afraid my concern is for the welfare of Mrs Sqad and myself in our retirement and no i never give other folks a thought.
As for MP's, I would have thought that they would only give a cursary thought to other folks heating requirements.

£64, 000 a year is a pittance for MP's, and certainly deserve the 11% increase.
well I have not heard them (the mice ) complain
I don't think it's justified - £64000 is three or four times what most hard-working people earn in a year.
I actually agree with Sqad. I don't think that 60-70k is extortionate.
A plumber earns more...
I don't think it's extortionate either, it's a good wage for a high-level public sector job - but I do object to the 11%, when the rest of us are just getting our first 1% pay rise in five years.
Really, ummm? Blimey.
*goes a hunting for a single plumber*
We have a large woodburner in the lounge, we light it at about 5pm and that heats up the house and it stays warm until it starts cooling again the following evening. fortunately we are surrounded by trees and have quite a few fallen trees to cut up for fire wood so our heating is currently free, it just takes a bit of time and effort. without heating I'm sure this house would be freezing in this location.

Politicians dont give a hoot about anybody but themselves and lining their own grubby little corrupt pockets.
Yep. I worked for a plumber.
Ummm, did you want to be a plumber or was it just a pipe dream? :-)
ratter we too have a woodburning stove and that is our main source of heat as we simply can't afford the oil
charlieuniform3, when we discovered how much it was going to cost us to fill our oil tank we decided then never to use the central heating. We are fortunate that the woodburner is efficient and the old farmhouse holds the heat well, we do have a small oil filled radiator in the office though.
