I'm off to Scotland later in the Autumn - mainly for some leaf peeping and distillery visiting.
But I'll also be near these amazing Gents ...

... and I'd like to take some photos.
However, I have a feeling that just wandering in and whipping out my ...
... camera, may not be entirely socially acceptable.
I wonder what the etiquette is :+)

The attendant is very mindful of his job, and friendly. If he doesn't offer to show you, ask - he's very obliging. Of course, he'll make sure there's no -one using the facilities!
It's the Gents section that has been restored. Apparently the Victorians didn't allow for Ladies wanting to 'spend a penny', Lord knows what they used to do.

NB as slinky says, there are some lovely places to visit. Mount Stewart is huge, and the Victorian Fernery is really lovely, small but well worth a visit. We stayed there for three nights, as they offer B+B.
A strange feature of the size of the island is that at a lot of the crossroads Rothesay is signposted in more than one direction!

If you're into country walks, go to Scalpsie bay - you may well see seals there. For a great pub meal that's a cut above the rest, the Kingarth Hotel is very good, and so is the beer, so hubby tells me. If dave was there a few weeks ago we may have been shoulder to shoulder at the bar lol. The bar there also has some good info on local walks.
Dunagoil is another place you can go to for a short walk, and the coastline there is interesting if you're into geology - and there are great views of Arran. There are lots of walks that are well marked and maintained. I'm envious, even though we were only there last month . Enjoy :)
