Pending our rapidly approaching holiday, I've called a local pet sitting agency. She will charge £8 per visit to look after 4 cats and 3 chickens. I think that's a bargain and would have her 2x a day. Mr BM thinks that is very expensive and is suggesting we either put the cats in the cattery and send the chooks to my dads (not keen on that, due to the fact that they have LOTS of foxes and it will really unsettle the girls) OR we get his mate to look after them (not keen on that the bugger will forget once he gets on the golf course). I don't want to impose on our neighbour for 10 days.

Someone give me some arguments to throw at him (apart from the fact that I am paying for it, and I want the peace of mind).

It used to amaze me that, as a teenager, people would get me and my pal to babysit for them without knowing us at all.

I would not be so lax in finding carers for my cats ~ if the lady has a good reputation then the amount that she is asking is very reasonable.

Tell Mr BM how much a cat hotel costs ~ that should shut him up.

Mr BM may no survive as long as the holiday......

I'm just going to book her and sod him. I'm the one that pays for it, I'm the one that worries about it, I'm the one that has to sort out the resultant crap.

CHuck £100 per night is a bit pricy, love (although were I to be here, I am sure the "extras" would be worth it).

(Although can you not nick my wine again, ta).
Damn it, I was going for £100 for the whole period (plus beer and food).... not £100 a night,

Note to self, must sell self higher in future.

My fridge is buggered so you're knackered on the beer and food part.

Seriously - both my fridges decided to die on the same day. Bastards. And Mr BM wonders why I am saying "I wish I hadn't sold my house because EVERTHING WORKED THERE".
4 cats will cost more than 16 pd in a cattery

Well we probably won't be going anywhere. Maggie Moo Moo chicken is poorly. I thought she was getting better but I just found her in the bottom of the henhouse - she cant get up into the coop. :(
:( Sorry to hear that. Pets can be a worry
Given Chuck's username I would think that your girls should stay away from him.

I hope Maggie will be okay ~ I know nothing about chickens (or other birds) so I don't even know how long they life for.
I would never use a kennel again as I know my dog broke his heart - it will be with a lady in her house - even as I was entering the kennel - my dog braked and braked and it broke my heart too sad sad (((
The worse thing about going away is putting the dogs in the kennels. I hate it.
I'd be amazed if you could get 4 cats in a cattery for £16 a day - and they always charge for the start and end days too, so it all adds up to more than the pet sitter.
My kennel bill was £485. Two dogs for fifteen days and I got a discount because they shared.
Yep about £15 per dog per day here, Tilly.

And a one week kennelling always adds up to 8 or 9 days :+(
