Disappearing Tadpoles

We have a small ornamental pond just for frogs.
its looking good and frogs around in the pond and pop up now and again.
Where have all the tadpoles gone? Have Magpies done an early raid i wonder?

I'd hate that to happen to our frogs spawn gness.
Our frogs spawn has done so well in the last couple of weeks and suddenly in one or 2 days its all gone. They were too small to leave the pond.
Next year, we'll put a covering over the top but leave space for birds to feed.

Not the same beasties, but we always get a big ball of baby spiders in the redwood bush each year. We'd thinned the bush - no sign of the babies until yesterday, when I found a tennis-ball sized pile of them lurking in the chiminea. I've moved them into the lilac bush, they're so clever at re-forming their ball in their new home.
