Came home to find a spider sitting on the wall by living room window. Don't mind spiders so left it alone. Took a while for me before I thought that it wasn't a spider I'd seen before. Checked it out to find it is a false black widow. It's now been moved outside!

talking of spiders Milvus.
While in Perth Australia last month, we saw hanging from a web on a tree overhead, a whopping big spider i have never ever seen before!
It had a claw like legs, yes, just like claws.
Keep wondering what that spider was. Was scared to death just looking up to view it. it could have fallen on my head!!!!! lol
False black widows are common in the south of England (I saw one yesterday whilst gardening), but I don't recall ever seein one back home in Fife. They are nothing specially to be afraid of.

There are some stunners abroad Pusskin, once came across a really huge one in the Malaysian rainforest. You're right gen2, getting more common. I live in north Bucks so they are heading your way! Bite like a bad wasp sting I've read.
How about this, then? Fortunately, they're quite friendly, and seem to enjoy being tickled!...

When I lived in nursing home in Guildford I seen the silouette of a huge spider running under my bed, I was petrified. So I did the only logical thing, packed clothes for the next day and left my bedroom door open with light on in the hall while I went and knocked on bemused friends door to sleep on her floor. I came back the next day and one of the other residents told me about the giant spider that had been found in the hall way coming out my room which he had unfortunately killed, (I didn't want it dead, I just didn't want it in my room, I know I'm a wimp), but he'd also taken the body to somewhere as he'd never seen anything like it and couldn't believe it was native to this country. I was actually moving out the following weekend so I never found out what it was but I always wondered what sort of spider it could be.
