Does anyone know why some cats wink at you when you look at them?

I read somewhere that if a cat narrows its eyes then it is showing friendliness (well more accurately it is being submissive). This could explain why cats seem to favour jumping on the laps of people that don't like them - they are probably scowling and narrowing their eyes!

I heard that if you want to show a sign of affection to your cat you blink at them, and they will blink back at you. It's supposed to be similar to blowing a kiss
