I believe there was an air show at Leuchars in Fife today
no idea, never seen anything in London.
there are air shows at various bases i think
Now look here.
We're entering the time of year when our anglo-Saxon society was wrenched apart for ever - the brave rearguard action against multiple invasion led by Harold Godwin.
Do we commemorate it?
No. Only men in tights - soryy, sorry - re-enactors give a stuff about the Battles of Fulford, Stamford Bridge and Hastings taking place between September 14th and October 14th 1066.
Don't even get me started on this one.
not many people on AB would remember that, so long ago, however some might remember the Battle of Britain.

What about the "Great Battered Pudding Uprising" then...anything on for that?
And the 100 year Pie n Peas War between Burnley and Preston?
Preston would now enter a kebab or a curry
And Burnley would field a home-made deep fried samosa with extra baked beans for a treat.

Ah yes, two of the biggest lesser known events in the history of Britain as we know it.
jesting will get you nowhere, Battle of Britain, perhaps AOG could comment.
The 'Battle of Britain' goes on every single day, you can always read about it in the 'News' topic if you are interested, stewey
ah but we aren't fighting the Luftwaffe are we?
Or on Jeremy Vile...
someone should shoot that twerp out of a cannon over the channel..
Well......I find it difficult to trivialise the "Battle of Britain."

The air-cadets in the small town where I live are holding a little salute to the day up at the airport. They have a couple of airplanes there: a "Lancaster" and an "Anson". Nice to see them doing that. By the way, I wasn't born during those times either.
yet you can trivialise someone's situation, who was feeling suicidal. strange that.
there are usually services here, and sure there will be today/tomorrow.
