Very aggressive flock of owls

Are there any owl experts here as we have a problem which has been happening over the last two weeks. My daughter came running screaming into our bedroom saying that she heard a loud noise and seen a face at the window which was strange as she's on the third floor but my husband went to check it out anyway but found nothing. This happened every night so I spent the night there and at around 3am I heard several loud thuds and called my husband who opened the curtain just in time to see an owl flying at full speed into the window and slamming into it before flying away and then another different coloured owl would do the same, my husband counted 12 different owls doing this and this has been happening consistently at 3am every morning, we've tried candles, leaving the light on, a horror mask on the windowsill and my husband even bought a large stuffed hawk from the taxidermists but they still attack the window, they all seem to be living in the large tree that's alongside our house if that's any relevance?
Does anyone know why owls do this? Are they in heat, angry for some reason? Are we in any danger if they decide to attack us if we come home late one day?

lol...that is one owl... in a one in a million type happening. No one is saying that birds do not fly into windows, just pointing out that they don't flock in 'different colour' groups etc.
Good luck with the RSPB I for one look forward to hearing an explanation.

Sorry Tracee I am not buying any of it.
Would my husband be in any danger if he boarded up their holes?
Would it be easy for them to find another home?

Boarded up what holes? You said these 12 owls are living in a tree first of all. Why do you care about them finding another place to live?
You have this poor child (you know the one of the third floor) whose curtains are never opened, with the lights on, candles burning, horror mask and stuffed hawk on her window sill - and now you are wittering on about the owls hurting themselves or being unable to find a new home.

Grasscarp the holes in the tree where the owls live and come out from each night, and being an animal lover is hardly "wittering on" is it? Yes I am concerned about their welfare, my husband wanted to deal with them with his high powered air rifle but I refused to be any part of an owl massacre.
I'm sorry that you don't believe that these kinds of things happen and to be honest neither did I until it happened to me.
Sorry Traceee, you're having us on ....
Suspended.
My daughter got a fright of her life once. She was swimming in the sea and got attacked by a school of angry flounders.
I could understand if it was one type of owl. Young barn owls maybe. But mixed flock. Definitely Hitchcock esque. I love birds I hated that film.
Traceee, has your RSPB guy been yet and what did he say?
I think we had mad owl posters before t-wits
Kiki - see my post 16:34 yesterday, she's been suspended so won't be able to answer.
its a shame though i was really looking forwrd to the next installment of the story. it really looked promising.

i reckon the ed likes to spoil my entertainment sometimes

seems to be a problem for young ladies ...violent owls
I'm howling with laughter at this thread
Agree with you mccfluff, it got me interested and thought it would be fun and came back to find its disappeared -- shucks!
Don't you mean 'owling with laughter DT ....
What do you get when you cross a rooster and an owl?
A cock that stays up all night!
i guess we could carry on making it up

i think the little girl has been possessed by the spirit of the owl guardians and the 12 owls are the disciples and they are trying to get to her to carry her away to the owl temple
It's such a hoot, chaptazbru, though it is a bit eyrie to what has happened.....
She wanted a job at hooters but couldn't get one..it scarred her for life...
Well we can continue it ourselves. The police read this thread and saw the husband had an unlicensed gun. He has been arrested. Firebrigade have gone in as it is unsafe to leave a child on a different floor at night with burning candles in the room. The taxi dermist has reported him as when he asked to get paid for the hawk the man told him to get stuffed. Oh and the RSPB guy (owl expert - who just happened to be in the area today) went to the door but was held back by the scene of crimes tape.
Shall I go on?
