Gallstones Update (gone infected)

After previous gallbladder updates after a horrible attack I thought might be food poisoning as the pain, vomiting and such was so bad I was admitted to the emergency surgery unit at the hospital yesterday as my gallbladder has gone infected.

Bit more settled on antibiotics but still hurts like hell but looks like I'll be getting it removed sooner than I thought.

Just hoping they can do it laproscopically (sp?) so there's less recovery time.

Thanks to everyone for the advice up to now. Hopefully will get it sorted soon.

Good luck - I am sure that they can do it - when is the procedure?

Enjoy the morphine, that was the best part of it all!
Well......nobody will operate on a "hot gallbladder".....so you will have to wait until it "cools down".

My guess.....it will not be done laparoscopcally.
good luck, i had gall bladder out, it was painful, and had a long recuperation, as you can't do much heavy lifting, or told not to.
Mine wasnt too bad and done laproscopically - but then it wasn't hot.
I had mine done by keyhole surgery, i was sorry i asked how it was done, though that was later, worse part, being made to move not long afterwards, swearing a lot comes to mind.

Not sure yet. Waiting to see the surgeon again who is trying to get hold of my scan result. He said I'm on the emergency list but might keep getting bumped, fair enough as more urgent cases taking priority.

Hopefully should have a better idea later. Bit more with it today at least and hopefully vitals better as had low blood pressure and high heart rate and temp when admitted. Feeling a bit more settled at least, just wish I could get rid of the pain.

Thanks, sorry didn't see all the other answers before replying, not as easy doing this on my phone.

Just such a bad time as on renewable contracts at work and mine nearly up for renewal and worried about a lot of time off. Not much I can do about that now though.

Had Augmentin injected so hopefully that's doing its thing.
sorry you are feeling rubbish jenna :(
jenna hope you soon feel better, bet the girls are missing you xxx

Thanks. Just settling down for another night. Still in a lot of pain and can't keep food down but ok on fluids now and hopefully the infection is subsiding on the antibiotics. Keep getting a horrible headache which is how it started but guessing maybe temperature/infection or a bit of dehydration. Was on a drip but my canula (?) came out while i was trying to have a shower and noone come to put it back in yet and do antibiotic injection in it.

Dr said they have a copy of my scan result now so will hopefully see the surgeon tomorrow morning so will see what that brings.

I'm missing the girls too. My friends are feeding and looking after them but can't wait to see them.

Pain bit better today and managed to keep some food down too :) Hopefully the infection is clearing up though still got a temperature so being reviewed again tomorrow.

They put the canula back in last night but it's been so painful especially when they are injecting stuff in. Finally got them to take it out not long ago after I was almost crying as they were putting my antibiotic in and my arm's swollen up like a balloon, they said phlebitis or something like that.
arrgghh sorry this is happening to you jenna
hope things get better for you soon Jenna
you really are having a rough time ,sending you a hug hope you are better soon xxx
how on earth did they let your arm get like that? feckin' nurses...i hope they buck their ideas up as you're having such a rough time. they don't need to make it any worse. thinking of you (as my mum went through similar) and hope things get sorted. take care, elsie x

It's more back to normal pain now and evil burning shoulderblades but antibiotics seem to be doing their thing :) Temp ok, blood pressure still a bit low but much better than when I came in so looks like I'll be home later and back for elective surgery hopefully soon as just want it out now.

Nurse got me a cooling bandage for my arm about midnight last night and it's calming down a bit now and getting antibiotics by tablets now. Arm still hurts and swollen, red and hot and itchy but not as painful as before and less ballon like and I can move and use it now which I'm very glad about if going home. Ok with small amounts of food so big difference :)

I'm getting there :)
good - get there quicker

Finally got home earlier this evening. Exhausted and still not feeling very well but glad to be home. Don't have a date yet, waiting for my surgeon consultant to say when he can do it, just hope it's soon. My arm is nearly back to normal too :)

This week has definitely been an eye opener into the NHS!

Really looking forward to an uninterrupted night's sleep tonight and some general peace and quiet to rest.
I hope you don't have to wait too long to have your surgery. Have a good sleep tonight and get well soon
thinking of you Jenna xx
