Peacock in the South west

Was pleasantly surprised to see a fully grown peacock ambling along the street in the village of Clutton in Somerset yesterday. What a majestic sight that was. I take it the bird was a pet. Who does it belong to. Can it survive in the wild in the UK and is there any reason why we dont introduce it in the wild to breed. Where can you buy a peacock in the UK?

My friend lives in Cardiganshire, and there are peacocks about. They're good guard animals!

I imagine it wouldn't do very well in the wild as they're really from warmer climes but mainly because England is full of Scrotes who'd use them for target practice!

ahh one of my earliest memories was aged 4 when we stepped out of the house one morning and found a beautiful peacock sitting on our fence. Apparently it had escaped from Whipsnade safari park which was a mile or so away.
