My cat was brought up by dogs until he was 8 weeks old when my best friend gave him to me.

At the age of 4 he has just followed me to the local shop and sat outside whilst I did my shopping and then followed me home. I was torn between being amazed and killing myself laughing. Some of my neighbours looked at me like I was mad whistling a cat back home.

Cats eh?!!!!

Brill story, barmaid - we think Rover (on my avatar) was brought up with dogs too. He came to us as a stray aged about 4 - loves a good wrestle, you can pat him hard which he loves, and he wags his tail when he's happy.
Our first dog was a cross bull-mastiff/GSD who looked like Scooby Doo. He was the only surviving pup in the litter of two. Apart from his mum he didn't see another dog until he was quite a few months old.

It was weird - he didn't seem to understand 'dog' communication and obviously didn't see himself as a dog. To make it worse my mother treated him like just another kid in the family. He used to go along to the local school at break time to play with the children (1980s - when we were totally unaware of all the dangers in the world!) and all the kiddies knew his name.

I am only awake at this horrible hour due to a 'starving' cat. He has now been fed and has gone back to bed leaving his sister and I awake and unable to sleep.
One of my cats used to come for a walk with us when I used to walk my bichon around the park. He used to hide behind a bush and wait for us to walk on and then run to the next bush and try to jump out on the dog. Got caught out a couple of times though when he jumped out on the wrong dog and had to escape up a tree. It did amuse the other dog walkers though.
Yup, my old cat (Taffy) used to follow me to the local shop too, and sit on its doorstep till i came out and then follow me home again. The number of times other folk came out of the shop and tripped over her were too numerous to mention.
I use to have a cat like that. She use to follow me to nursery. She also use to run after the car when I drove off. And she use to guard my youngest son if I left the room....if anyone went near him she scratched them.
had a brilliant cat as a child - used to wait for me to come home from school then tippy toe along all the walls back home telling me about her day.
