Are female cats more likely to catch birds, mice etc than males? In my limited experience they do and it kind of makes sense with females hunting in the wild. Getting a kitten and this may affect my decision as to which to choose.
Thanks

In my experience none whatsoever. My old lady was a great hunter in her day, although never caught a bird. My young hooligan has brought me birds (including a partridge, a pheasant and a pigeon), rabbits, mice, rats, and even a weasel.

My cats catch anything that flies by at sufficiently low level, and they are all males. Running, fluttering, slithering, hopping - they bring 'em all in through the catflap. I don't want to put you off, though!
^ Thei greatest triumph was bringing a live magpie in through the catflap - I came home and found this fiendish beady bird, with a beak like a dagger, sitting in the ceiling light fitting, and three cats on sentry duty underneath!
well - I have a boy (nutered if that helps) and we've had at least 4 in the past six months he's been here! one was on halloween.. didn't need to dress up the house on that occasion!!!!

Thanks. The only girl in the litter is absolutely gorgeous and I wanted her. I feel better now knowing she's no more likely to kill anything than her brothers. Our old boy was soft and useless at hunting but his sister caught everything in sight.
I wish you and your new kitten such good times together!
in my life i have had more then 20 different cats of both sexes and i can honestly say i have never noticed a difference
