Really sad day today!

I had to have my 11 year old cat put to sleep today and I feel so bad.
I know it was the right thing to do but I miss her so much.

I'm not looking for any answers, but to any animal lovers, it has to be one of the most heart breaking decisions to make even if you know it's the right one x

I had to have my little dog put to sleep in April last year and know just how you feel as I couldn't believe how upset I got. I felt guilty as I should have done it sooner.
I swore that I'd never get another one but 7 months later I did.

My heart goes out to you on this very sad day. I know what you are going through as I had to make the same decision a while ago with my beloved dog. I thought of all the joy she brought to me and my family though and through time I've been thankful for these memories of her. Your pain will ease eventually. Take care. XX

years ago I had the phone call from the bat, inoperable she said. OK, let him go to sleep, best thing.
I was reasonably OK until OH came home from work and we went to the vets (pay bill) and I just lost it big time.

I keep saying I'll never get another cat, they break your heart when they go. Every pet has their own little individunal ways, and there will never be another like her.

I have a dog the same age and I'm dreading the inevitable x

soooo sorry to hear that pussyfoot we said goodbye to a guinea pig yesterday and that wasnt easy but to me it doesnt matter what sort of animal it is they become a part of the family!!!! just to say chin up and hope it gets better for you xxxxxx

I am so sorry to hear your news. I'm a dog person, (but we all love the pets we have) had to make the awful decision a couple of months ago. I do have another 14 year old dog who isn't in the best of health, as responsible pet owners we must make decisions for them, hard as it is. I'm sure you did the right thing. So sorry to hear your sad news. Our pets become part of our families and we miss them terribly when they leave us. You did the right thing Pussyfoot. You wouldn't have wanted her to suffer. I have moved into a flat now so can't have anymore dogs, but I would have another one if I could. They break our hearts but they are so caring and loving. Leave it a while and see how you feel about having a new kitten. It will give you so much joy.

Ah I am so sorry pussyfoot.
I have had to make the decision to put one of my dogs to sleep and I know just how hard it is. However, after a bit of time passes, I have found that it brings some level of comfort that you have been brave and strong enough to make the final decision for your pet.
I knew that my lovely dog had a terminal condition and so was able to make the decision to let my girl go before she was in terrible pain. I hope you had that opportunity too.
A wise person on this site once told me that it is better to make the decision a week too soon rather than one minute too late. I have found this advice invaluable in my grieving process.
Feel free to come on here again and share your feelings/grief any time you need. There are always good people on here ready to listen and help.

I've just gone through the same thing with my cat, so know exactly how you're feeling. Its the first time I've actually had to make that decision too (previous pets have died in their sleep so no decision to make). Its horrible, I know but like everyone else has said on here, you've done the right thing. No more pain for your cat and she'll be swanning around up above watching over you with an unlimited supply of Whiskas/Felix etc etc. Just keep thinking of all the fun times you had and I promise, you WILL start feeling better soon.

Just had to say something, I had to have my cat put down August last year, he had an inoperable cancer and it was the hardest decision I ever had to make...I had 14 years with him and still miss him but .... last month I found a new cat [via the RSPCA and yes, it took some months] and he's the total opposite of my lost cat, we are friends in a very different way and for all that he's no less special.

I miss Tass but it does get easier, I promise, xxx
