My dog will not leave the house (Megan, Border Collie Cross) because something is scaring her outside, she gets excited when a walk is mentioned, but as soon as she goes downstairs near to the front door, her tail goes between her legs and she shoots upstairs and refuses to come back down. I've had her out by putting the lead on her and forced her outside but it's like she wants the walk over with asap, and thats not like her. We live in a small village where there is lots of dog walkers and open front gardens. I was wondering if someone had maybe fitted a ultrasonic cat and dog repeller to their house and if they have can i do anything about it? I've heard some of these things have a range from 85 square metres to 1.02miles i feel it is unfair for her as she loves her walks, can anybody help?

Cook steak. Throw steak outside. Watch dog run outside.

Hope this helps
I doubt if its any sort of repeller, more likely to be something that has frightened her whilst alone at home, maybe someone trying to break in, or even a thunderstorm. What is she like when away from home, or do you ever take her out in the car to somewhere nice for a walk? Try encouraging her with a titbit and get her to sit or lay down for a while just a little way from the house, so she realises there is nothing going to harm her.
Do a bit of training with her and give her lots of praise for doing it, but try not to 'baby' her just be matter of fact when leaving the house.
