The lady came round today to collect all my spare doggy paraphernalia. She is acquiring the dog through a Bulgarian rescue centre and it will be house and lead trained. She no longer feels that she needs a crate. Phew!

She was really grateful for the donations and gave me a bottle of wine as a thank you. That was nice.

She also asked if I would mind if she rang me in the future if she needed some advice. I told he I would love to help, if I can.

I feel much better now and really do wish her and her family well on the new addition.

That's a splendid outcome and a lucky fog too by the sounds of it.
you did something and she returned the compliment, well done you.
What a lovely result. She sounds just as caring as you. x
^ Dog, apologies
Well done, good result.

I wasn't expecting a gift. Freecycle is about giving things to people who need them. The wine was a lovely bonus. :-)
Bulgaria. ? Are there no more dogs in Britain who require rehoming.?
That's the absolute best you could have hoped for really Tilly isn't it. Great news. Been worried about that dog (wish I could put a "raises eyes to ceiling" emoji here:-)

What is wrong with this person, are there not enough deserving dogs wanting a forever home in the UK already without importing another one.
Sorry if I offend but it is something I feel very strongly about and have done for a long time.

I don't really care where the dog come from if it needs a home and someone is prepared to help it.
Maybe it comes down to how different countries treat dogs.
There are countries where dogs are bred for human food, China for a start .

I just see it as someone VS
Tilly, what you have done is great and you are hardly likely to challenge a stranger about their choices, well done to you.
I do love a happy ending......but I really hope this lady has done her homework and is adopting from a decent rescue with UK back up. I know of quite a few hair raising stories about people who have adopted from middle europe :(
How lovely I have close links with a rescue in Serbia and the way they treat their dogs is heartbreaking.
Baldric, like you I am torn. I think they do it because a starving dog lying in the gutter, probably also been bashed about for a bit of fun by the locals, pulls at the heartstrings more than a dog sitting in a rescue kennel here being cared for. Especially if they have started to feed and care for the dog while they were there on holiday. Just my thoughts on it but if I saw a dog in those conditions I couldn't swear that I wouldn't be wanting to bring it home with me.

I have put the wine in the fridge and shall enjoy it later. I am happy with today's outcome. I was glad to be able to help in a small way.
Meant to put that the other side of the coin is one could argue that for everyone brought from abroad equals one in a rescue here PTS??
Tilly you have done everything you could have done. Respect.
