Got back home this morning from Co Donegal with my new baby. She's 11 weeks old and was as good as gold for the whole journey, bless her. We've called her 'Brienne' after Brienne of Tarth, big, blonde and beautiful :)

What a lovely puppy and a great name.
Hi kvalidir. Congratulations on your gorgeous puppy! I love the name too! Your baby is a little lighter than our Gilligan (my hearthound, lol) was at that age, so she will probably be more of a cream colour when she is grown up. You were asking Ratter15 about the breeding of ours. Well, that is more my domaine really, so he has asked me to tell you. We have Merlin (6yrs old) who is Monclare Simba, Gilligan (5) who is Monclare Dublin Bay. Then we have our big little girl Keeva who is Bribiba's Scots Mist. The Monclare Kennel is in Staffordshire and Bribiba is in Scotland. If you need any help at all with your wolfie, please feel free to ask. I have over 1200 friends in various Irish Wolfhound communities on fb. Many are breeders, some are vets. If ratter and I can't find an answer for you, one of these will for sure. I'm sure your breeder will have told you not to exercise your puppy like you would another breed. Do not take her on walks yet. Wolfhounds can easily develop serious problems if over exercised in the first year. Enjoy your baby! xxx
She's stunning kval, love her name too :-)
Kval she's gorgeous !! I'm green with envy xx
What a gorgeous pup, good luck with her :)

Thank you all so much, I really couldn't be happier with her, especially as I didn't think I was getting her, as I was fifth on the list of reservations and the *** had four pups so I reserved a pup from another litter. Then out of the blue the breeder rang and asked if I'd like her as the person allocated to her was messing them about and they had developed a bad feeling about them, as they had supposed to pick her up on three separate occasions and they were going on holiday on Monday. So she was quite a surprise arriving so quickly.
Thank you Carakeel, I'll be careful with the exercise she's allowed to take. Moncler's are lovely dogs, aren't they currently holding the UK's tallest dog record with one of their wolfies?
Most of Brienne's breeding is Cufodhla, Shantamon and Monageer, line bred back to Owenmore Mioruilt and Cufodhla Anu both sides. I've met both her parents and other relatives and they all seem long lived happy healthy dogs, so fingers crossed.

Thanx AGC :)
How lovely, kval. I wish you many happy years together.
I always get broody with pictures of baby animals. It is weird that, even is she is a big dog, she has that puppy look about her.

I hope that you and Brienne will be very happy. Is the other dog in the pictures yours also?

She looks gorgeous - swap you for two stupid spoiled moggies?

She's absolutely gorgeous Kvalidir! Am very , very jealous ;O) Hope you have lots of fun together and take lots of pictures - she'll be as tall as the Brienne in GOT's before you can blink :o)

If I won the lottery and had more space and time I would have a wolfy, - dream dog.
Rachel, who has the Monclare affix did breed a hound called Finn. He was the tallest in Britain until a few months ago. He was our Merlin's brother and belonged to a friend. Sadly he was only 6 when he died. Our Merlin is not nearly as tall as Finn was and generally the ones that are not so tall live longer. So we have hope for our boy, who is in great health. We also have his half-brother, who is a bit taller, but still in a comfortable range. The Monclare affix is not always popular, as Rachel doesn't show her dogs. Breeders who show usually dislike those who don't. To me, as long as their breeding good, sound, healthy hounds, I don't care. Your baby is absolutely adorable. Are you on fb?

*they're, lol

Thank you all.
Yes she's very puppy faced wolf even though she's about the size of a labrador. The other dog is also one of mine, Loki, he's an Alaskan Malamute and a real sweetie, great soppy fool he is is teaching he the pleasures of cooling off in his paddling pool at the moment:)

I know there's a bit of aloofness with some breeders about non showing homes, but I agree I'd rather have healthy dogs bred for longevity than anything else. Her Dad was supposed to be a Ch show last weekend but someone's Alsation took a chunk out of the side of him and he's all bandaged up poor lovely. I might show her but I've never shown dogs and I know that to show well you really need to know your stuff, which I don't:( I'm on Facebook, if you search me under my old username you ought to find me I think. If not then let me know:)
Look at those paws! She's a stunner...good luck with your new baby :-)
Run, quickly, save yourself! The last person who I asked if they were going to show on here was Thugulike with her Mastiff puppy. She said no, then was persuaded to show him by the breeder, qualified for Crufts and the rest as they say is history. He became a champion and his owner is now secretary of the breed club and on her third (I think) Mastiff!
