How often should we apply the liquid to our dog? My wife said the vet recommended "every month" but I feel that's too much and the vet would want it doing often as he'll sell more stuff!!

If he's clear and its preventative...once a month sounds ok ?
I use Advocate and just follow the instructions. I notice that my vet, who sold it to me, sends me email reminders to repeat the dose !
Does your dog get fleas? because mine never do. I worm them and use tick treatment (big problem around here) but don't routinely treat for fleas.
Might depend which one you use, too. I've been using Advocate, which is great. We have cats too, so more likely to get fleas. I used frontline again last month, for some reason and they needed a second dose a couple of weeks later.
pixie, up and down the country, frontline resistant fleas are developing. Down here in the south, its not worth using any more. Its one reason that I don't treat unless its necessary, the more a chemical is used, the more likely it is that resistant fleas will develop.
I've been using Advantage for about a year on both dog and cat. They ate both clear...with better skin. I get it online from VioVet.
The advice on most treatments is monthly...but I concentrate on the warmer months.
Do you need a prescription for Advantage Pasta?

I never treat mine unless I see evidence of fleas on them and then I use Frontline spray (not the spot on). I don't believe in putting chemicals into or onto your dog unless necessary and I have never had a problem with Frontline spray when needed.
