Dew Claw Hanging Off

I've just noticed my dogs dew claw has broken and half of its hanging off, i think possibly he's just done it on a walk in the woods as i didn't notice it last night, he's not in obvious pain no bleeding or anything, will it fall off or shall i cut it off or shall i just leave it?
