Sempre Libera, from La Traviata by Verdi

I am pretty sure that it is from Scene 1 in the opera
which is where Violetta (singing this)
is throwing a party

The waltz time - dum plink plink dum plink plink comes through at one point.

She has to sing a really high note (B or C) and this means the singer really has to be able to sing. I really like it
(the ad and not the car)

A new opera - new in 1847 I think - has to get people in their seats and keep the bums in chairs. and certainly serves this purpose - I think it was a hit from the word go.
