Has anyone else come close to smashing in their TV set when that Norwich Union advert comes on? I don't think even Linda Barker can compete in the irritation stakes

I totally agree - the guy says "I've got a family saloon (or something) and they give him a quote straight away - as if getting car insurance is ever that easy!!! The only ad that comes close in the irritation stakes is the Halifax "we are sailing" one. Do they test screen ads do you think? Oh, and the Abbey National one that is trying to glamourise divorce and bankruptcy is pretty grating too. You've got me going now...........................
and since when did getting a slightly less extorionate quote for insurance make anybody even raise so much as a smile
I hit the 'mute' button when this ad comes on. It irritates me so much I have vowed never to give Norwich Union any of my business.
Calm down TiredOctopus, it's a commercial!
I suggest you try phoning Norwich Union if you really want to feel like smashing something!! You talk to a machine for 20 minutes..press 1....press 5.....press 3!!! ARGH!!!
Hehe kags I've just seen another rediculous one. The guy says, "Hi, I do about 12,000 miles a year and I'd like you to quote me happy" - how on earth would they give you a quote based on that?! He could be insuring a tricycle for all they know.
There are a couple of others that have the same effect - the Sharwoods woman saying 'Did ya here that - aromatic spiiiiices' when it caught me on a bad day literally made me scream with fury. Also those ITV incidental things with all their horrendous c list celebrities in slow motion trying to look vibrant and amusing make my blood boil. The one of Cat Deeley being 'wacky' and tying very hard to convey a lack of awarness in her utter gorgeousness is particularly grating.
That man on the E-sure advert, I actually punched the tele once because he is so annoying. Adverts used to be good, but now it's either insurance, mortgages, loans or skincare. It also annoys me that companys are encouraging people to borrow money, knowing full well they are never going to be able to pay it back.
I thought it was just me! Runners up for most annoying are 1. " Why are you waiting ? " ( not even sure what its for , probably loans or insurance ) 2. The one for the loan with the talking blue phone 3. Anything where members of the public re-enact their accident " which wasnt their fault " 4. Anything obviously dubbed
Also - the one for Tele2 where some gurning idiot looks out of the window at his neighbour washing the car as if that was something extraordinary.
I'm sick of Yes Car Credit, with people trying to start their cars and failing. Over and over and over...
ooooooohhhhh.... you've really hit a nerve there! i absolutely hate those adverts!!!!!!! all those stupid idiots who dance around after getting quoted from the description: 'it's a htachback, and its green.' dont you have to give engine size, NCB, and whether you have it off the rd, etc???? arggggghhhhh! i think that everybody should boycott them. the only consolation is that the latest ads feature the rather funny Craig Cash! still annoying, but now only marginally.......
Has anyone else noticed how all the really bad adverts nowadays are from either banks or car insurers? P.S. I hate Micahel Winner, if anyone sees him, give him a punch from me!
lol u really dont like him do you???? 'calm down dear, it's just an Internet forum.'
I think that the bloke in the advert is the same guy who played Robert in a little known 90s comedy Joking Apart. Does anyone else agree with that. If so, he was brilliant in Joking Apart - a shame his career has come down to this!
