As it just doesn’t apply to the African Continent
I refer to to current ads for WaterAid for example and give £2 a month and other ads for similar stuff when our own country is in crisis, should these be showing?
If everyone in the UK donated just a one off payment of £2 to our Hospices and care homes , they’d have nearly £133.000.000 to help them out in this current crisis

Hospices and similar can pay to put an advert on too. I think McMillan do. Care homes are either private companies or are funded by government/councils
imaging if everyone already paid a % for our health care, we could call it.. Tax! Then imagine if everyone in care homes (or at least the majority) paid a residential fee to pay for their stay? It'd work wonders wouldn't it...

Oh but no, because the GOV spend 38 billion a year on defence instead.

The whole captain tom moor thing was so sad. Imagine being that age and having to raise money for a health care system you've spent over 50 years paying for...
I didn't see the Captain Tom fund raiser in that way at all and I'm sure he didn't either.
There’s nothing to stop any organisation advertising or to stop the public giving where they choose. I think many people are more miffed about this country's foreign aid budget. They have no choice in that.

I’m not miffed about our foreign aid budget , it was just after seeing these ads got me thinking about our own charities

The problem is FF in the case of Hospices , they heavily depend on Charities and the cost of advertising would add to their struggle right now
Charities can choose to advertise or not....and quite a few children's hospice charities do. People can choose who they donate to....and for most people, giving £2 to water aid won't stop them donating to Captain Tom, to their local hospice or to the Flat Earth Society for that matter. I won't donate to my local hospice for adults for personal reasons.
oh and the care homes around me are all private businesses.
All these charity requests sound worthy. Feel free to give to any, all, or just your favourite.

Woof, I realised that when I put it in the OP , and very lucrative some are too, a few millionaires have been made by care home owners, and of course I respect your decision of who you give to,
I’d imagine to advertise anything would be a costly exercise unless it’s offset by tax? I’m not sure
Why should the Water Aid ads not be shown?
Question Author
Woof I used that as an example only, nothing more and I think I’ve *tried* to explain in my own way why....and failed miserably :0(
The Devil, Captain Tom didn't HAVE to do anything. He chose to because that's the sort of person he is.
ok, why should any of the non Covid related stuff be showing? Should foreign covid related stuff be showing?
Yes, all charities should be allowed to appeal for donations - then we make the choice to give or not.
If those countries didnt spend their money on fancy palaces and overpriced weapons they dont need they could develop their own countries.
not relevant C at C.....its my choice whether to donate or not.
Any home spun charity can ask for donations and any person can choose to give to whatever charity they choose.
I can’t believe that someone has an issue with this advert.
