As you drive down into my street there’s a pair of trainers hung up around the telephone wire and i’m totally fed up of looking at them every time I drive /walk down our street . I’ve hated looking at them from day 1 and they’ve been up there for well over a year now! What can I do to get them down . Would the council/ bt deal with it if I contacted them ? Any ideas anyone .

These usually mean where you can get drugs. so even if you get them taken down more may soon appear

I’ve heard this but I think it’s a bit of an urban myth slim seeker . I think in this case it was a prank but sick to death of looking at them and would love to get rid .
There have been so many stories around this, Jenarry. To do with drug dealers.....showing where a supply of drugs can be found.....colours were supposed to indicate which gang was in charge of an area. This has been debunked.

I think it's a bit of devilment which stays for a long time... unlike rough graffiti which is easier to deal with.

Try the council and BT....not sure you'll get anywhere but try and good luck.....it looks really unsightly..x
Follow the wires to the pole, and you can see which utility company it belongs to - most likely BT or an electricity provider - contact their customer service and advise them, see what they can do.
I did not know that slimseeker, theres a pair on my street which must have been hung their for over seven years, however the most likely suspects moved out three years ago. and yep just had a look out of back bedroom window and still there.

They’ve been up there close to two years and I thought the laces would rot away eventually but unfortunately not . :( I don’t really like our street so it bugs me even more !

Thankyou Andy . I’ll have a walk down and check it out .
we have some near our local park which is renowned for drugs could be just a coincidence I suppose?
And I thought it was supposed to be in memory of someone who died - certainly a subject for urban myths. You see them hanging like that in many parts of the world.
You do, Prudie.......I can imagine kids challenging each other to see if they can do it....bit like using a bolas.

I'm not sure why drug dealers would want to advertise where they are?
I often see a single shoe or trainer by the side of the road while I'm driving - could this be something to do with drugs?
So true, Windy.......I don't think I drive anywhere without spotting one lonely shoe in the road......the odd one maybe....but so many?
It's a mystery gness, why would someone lob one shoe out of the window? :o/
//I often see a single shoe or trainer by the side of the road while I'm driving.....//

a friend was riding his motor bike through the new forest one evening, and he "winged" a rabbit that ran out in front of him. having ridden on, conscience got the better of him after a mile or so, and he went back, to find the rabbit in its death throes. so he went to kick it to end its suffering, but as he did so, his trainer flew off and went into the woods. it was getting dark by this stage and grubbing about in the leaf litter was proving futile; so he turned his bike to face the woods with the headlight on, and continued the search...….. at which point these constables happened along in their patrol car. cue excuses….
I often see baby shoes by the pathway... which reminds me of a time walking through City centre (Not so long back) and passed a lady pushing a pram and noticed the child only had one boot on, further on my journey spotted the matching one and dutily picked it up and ran back after her... I felt like a good 'un that day. She was very grateful.
*Push chair... not pram

There’s a very busy roundabout in the city closest to us where along one Kerbside a collection of shoes has developed . It was just one mans shoe first , then another ,then some smaller shoes and trainers all lined up next to each other .There’s about 6 now and it puzzles me every time I see it . Someone must be purposefully going across a very busy road to this roundabout to put them there .

And again these have been around for 2+ years . Very strange . I didn’t know if it was some tradition I don’t know about as it’s a very multicultural city.
Indeed, Windy.....a puzzle...but today I saw a nice umbrella by the side of the road...hope that doesn't catch on....x
I heard an explanation for the single shoes by the road.

When ambulance crew have a drunk on board that they despise, they lob one of his or her shoes out of the window.

When they sober up they won't know how they lost it, but the ambulance crew feel they have got their own back.
