My current phone, a Nokia, has finally died. If I purchase another Nokia from Amazon, is it just a matter of transferring the sim card from the old phone into the new phone and all my stored phone numbers will be available or is it more complicated than that? I am currently with Vodaphone on a "pay as you go" basis. Trying to talk to a human being at vodaphone is impossible.

Provided the phone from Amazon is not tied to a particular network, then it's no problem. You get to keep the same number, and obviously all the data on your existing sim card.

if its not locked to another company yes ,but make sure you have transferred all your contacts to your sim first
I transferred my sim from an ancient Nokia to a Huaweii smartphone and it worked!
I have found using the 'live chat' feature on vodafone (where you instant message back and forth) usually quite helpful. Prefer it to trying to speak to a human.
And of course you get to transfer any cash credit you have on PAYG.
Did you store your directory on your SIM card or on the old handset ?

If on the SIM card it will be available when you put it into a different compatible handset. If on the handset and you say that has died, so I assume you can not power it up and use the menus, then you have a problem.

Ideally you should save your directory elsewhere via a method of exporting and importing it back to the phone.
I have to say that I have not understood one word of the question or the answers. I have a problem!
