I think so sandy, but there are others out there. Facebook is the biggest apparently, much bigger than Twitter.

The are a number kik, snapchat, skype etc not one of them is secure.
that's brilliant, Mosaic.

I think Facebook and Twitter are the ones usually intended when you read about them in the papers, because they're the ones journalists are most likely to use themselves, but there are others as already mentioned. I don't know that Skype counts, though, as it's basically one-to-one.
"Social" media means those forms of communication which are, actually ...

... antisocial !

So, if you facebook your friends, instead of actually talking to them, you are using "social" media.

If you are with one group of friends, and you rudely start using your phone to communicate with another group of friends, you are using "social" media.

If you are on a night out, and you ignore the people you are with so that you can post pictures on your Facebook page of the "great time you are having", you are using social media.

Etc ...

In fact, in essence, if you are being rude and antisocial, and an electronic device is involved ... then you are probably using "social" media.
AB probably counts as social media, come to think of it.
Social media is the cause of so many problems and conflicts these days. I'm sure if the internet didnt exist life would be so much simpler.

Depending on whether some posters are drunk or have got out of the wrong side of the bed jno.
I expect people are often similarly tired and emotional when taking selfies of their antics and posting on FB.....
