You know those little bags that you put in the little recycling, kitchen waste caddy? Why do they feel wet when you pull them off the roll?

Well they are a biodegradable material, and probably have some moisture content.
I think they are slippery, rather than wet.
They are made from corn starch.
Question Author
Yes, hopkirk. They are biodegradeable. What are they made of that makes them feel wet?
They feel horrible, must be the degradable plastic they're made from. Reminds of the feel of a rubber item from my youth :-)
Question Author
Ah, ferlew. You read my mind. Corn starch?
Party balloons, Prudie?
Question Author
What do you mean, Prudie. Erasers you used at school?
err exactly that hopkirk..
I'm resisting the urge to go to the kitchen an ferret about under the kitchen sink to find my neglected roll of caddy bags to see if they feel different to other bags.....

I save that kind of excitement for Fridays!
Question Author
Go on, Eccles. Be a devil. Have a feel!
Feel the freaking frow stuff away Friday functional container, Sounds good.
Question Author
Ferlew, you seem to have a pre-occupation with 'f's'.
We don't have them here.
Large green for household waste.
Large brown for paper.
Small box for glass, plastic, cans and aerosols.
Where is the sense in that?
I'll hold out until Friday.....I'm going to be in suspenders for thewholemof tomorrow though ;-)
Flipping predictive text...the whole of...

That sounds like a brilliant system Jezza I envy you, if only we had a glass collection!
Question Author
The little caddy in my kitchen is my own choice. Not a council induced thing. I put all my waste food in my little caddy before it goes in the big black bin.
You don't compost Tilly?
Question Author
No I don't, Eccles. I've never composted.
So if everything gets lobbed in the bin why do you have a caddy?
To an extent I agree with you eccles, but the big brown bin for paper would take months to fill even if you bought 2 daily papers a day where as the little box for everything else is a joke. It should be the other way round.
