Hi all

Enjoy this week's crossword.

Misprints in there somewhere.

I'm off to Hay for the book festival. Hopefully it won't all be over my head.

All the best

Hay Ho :-)
Thanks, Daniel! Enjoy the Hay Book Festival!
Cheers Daniel. Enjoy your cultural break!
Thanks Daniel. Another "hard one" today - took a while!
Thanks Daniel & enjoy the festival.

I think getting 2 & 3d very early on made the puzzle reasonably straightforward.
I agree: learned a couple of new words this morning!
And have fun, Daniel!
Hi Roslyn. Are you a winner of the latest Viz crossword by any chance?
Seems to me there are TWO "alternative titles" : the one spelled out by the corrections (7 letters), and the old title, slightly corrected (5 letters). Is it better to mention both?!
Greyfox - I don't know - I only enter because "hallgreening" sends me the pdf puzzle and I usually have a go! What have I won??
Congratulations. Not the £50 first prize alas. You've won a Viz T-shirt "that were once the height of fashion before becoming dated, followed quickly by a brief spell being retro chic and are now once again old hat. Size XL." Just what you've always wanted I'm sure. :-)

Did this issue's crossword for the first time. Not easy is it? It's scatology makes Cyclops in Private Eye tame in comparison.
maurice, I haven't got the right seven letter misprint word yet, but I agree with you that the title is a misprint of an alternative.
Thank you for the confirmation, whatsthat! To be on the safe side I added the 5-letter one in brackets, but I suppose that was just an extra kick!
I've just realized the first correcting letter corrects a wrong one in the title, not in 1a, so it's not actually part of a definition in the usual sense --- or am I overlooking something else?
Evidently not (said he, answering his own q as usual)! Using "definition" to include the title seems a pretty mean trick to me (even if it's happened before)..........................
maurice,
I thought the same over breakfast this morning!
Thank you again for confirmation!
