These adverts for life insurance are little short of a scam, on death they pay out a trivial amount "towards the cost of a funeral" they say.

Why do they lower themselves to do such tacky adds?

They clearly dont need the money, is it just greed?

I really dont think I could lower myself to do this kind of advertising unless I was very desperate and needed to put food on the table.

If you read the small print it says at thebottom of the TV screen things like "you may pay in more than you get out" (if you live to a ripe old age).

However there is nothing illegal about them, just not good value for money. You are btter putting the money straight in the bank

But I guess if any company comes to you and says "we weill give you £100,000 (or probably higher figure) to a do a days filming it is very tempting.

VHG, I know its legal that's why I said "little short of a scam" but does that much money short circuit moral standards for millionaires?
I don't think it is good for their reputation.
I think I saw Dame Judi Dench offering a free Parker pen just for enquiring as well.

I presume their agents tell them it is easy money.
These people are bookmakers, they take your premiums (bets) and give you appalling odds, they wont pay out in full if you die in the first year so it really is stacked in their favour.luckily i saw the light and cancelled having only paid one months premium of £5, got a lovely 14 inch LCD television for the bedroom though, which at £5 was a real bargain!
I know ,you'd think they would have a bit more integrity really and give unknown actors a chance,Fed up hearing J.Walters and Dawn French in the supermarket ads and th other one who was "bubbles " in Ab fab...what a bloody living eh?How do you get into this line off work if you have a pleasant speaking voice I wonder?
i looked after someone once who had a very familiar voice - it turns out she was the "the vodaphone you have called is switched off" voice woman. She had an agent for voice work
I hate those adverts and when I see Michael Parkinson and hear his oily voice advocating that I give my hard-earned money (well pension, but I earned it in the first place) to some insurance company it really makes me annoyed.
I make a point of ignoring most products and services when promoted by celebrities, or 'so-called' celebrities.

As you say "Why do they lower themselves to do such tacky ads?"
(continued) Not only that, but I don't want to think of dying. I've only got a few more years left and I want to enjoy them as much as possible - living. Let someone else worry about the funeral, I'm not going to.
