dont think this is the right place but unsure where it goes?

ok so, i bought a sofa from tesco direct 3 weeks ago and it was due to be delivered tomorrow, i had my old couch taken away this morning, i had just recieved a call from tesco saying that they cant deliver as the couch has gone out of stock!, yet it it was in stock when i paid! i told them i have had my old one removed, and was told 'well if you opted for an earlier delivery you would of recieved one'! i am amazed! now i have to wait to they come back in, if they do!

Would like to know can they do this? and where do i stand on it?
Thanks in advance.

what does it say in your contract with them? What does it say on the website or in the catalogue? You need to check if this is covered in their terms and conditions.
Is it a sofa that Tesco is to supply or does it come straight from the manufacturer?

Tesco are usually pretty approachable - tell them you are feel about this issue.
Many shops take orders when they are out of stock. Logicially I would guess you could pull out as they breached the contract of delivery date.

However, disposing of your current sofa before a new one has arrived is your decision/fault. Unless Tesco had advised you in writing to do so.
