Reporting Etiquette

What do you consider to be "proper reporting etiquette"?

Sometimes I'll post on the OP's that I have reported and this morning I didn't even bother to say that I had as I was disgusted.

I often (not always) post that I have reported mainly to save other folks the trouble and to save the ed wading through a pile of reports on the same post.

I don't see why people feel the need to say they're reporting.

On the other hand, my thought is that the more people that report an offensive post (like this morning) then Ed is more likely to see that it's offended a lot of people. The odd report could be mischievous or just one person's sensitivities affected. It depends what it is whether I post that I have reported something.

I don't report as rule. I certainly don't report on a 'whim'!! Anything I do report doesn't need an explanation.

I report and move on and never bother to tell the poster. I very rarely report anything but if I do, I certainly don't feel the need to highlight or discuss the matter with the muppet involved as it's generally some sort of trollish behaviour. Besides, it just breeds bad feeling and leads to rows and I also can not be bothered with that.

All the time I've been on here, I've only reported once. This was a foul vile slur and comment about someone's child(ren).

I said I had reported it.

If I find anything offensive, as a rule I just ignore them or challenge them or at least say I think it's offensive.

I report really offensive stuff but don't say I have reported, simply because I don't want to open up any 'conversations' about it. Having said that I don't report a great deal just stuff which I think most people would find offensive.

There is no need to say you've reported anything - all you do by informing the OP is to push the question back into the recent posts pod for more users to see...

This is very kind of you, but as stated above, I think it causes more trouble.

Ideally it would be report and ignore completely. Don't feed the trolls!
