Its just struck me that it might help if there was a specific section for telling mods that there is a spam posting that needs their attention?...or would it get misused?

It's an idea I admit but whether it would get abused I don't know.

Anyway latest one went sharpish enough.
or would it get misused?

Heavily. I think they get a notification anyway, just depends who's around from what I've seen.
I got ticked off once. Oops!
Wouldn't that be just the same as "Report"ing them? There's a spam option there.
doesn't the Report option on every posting achieve exactly that? or does only Mr Ed get to see them?
I would imagine that the 'Report' button would suffice?
It would be easiest if all 'reports' were made available to the mods, perhaps with the mods having a box alongside 'latest posts' that indicated that a new report had just been submitted and/or a link that we could click on to see all reports posted within the past few hours. (It can't be that difficult to do; after all, we already see a slightly different screen to everyone else when we click on 'Report' or on a member's profile).
I was always under the impression that the use of 'Report' went straight to the mods.
^^^ Definitely not, JD33. There's no mechanism for it. Only the Ed gets to see reports.
Well that needs fixing.
//...or would it get misused?//

:o/
So I suppose the only way round it is to headline 'Mod alert' with a link to the relevant post.
That won't work Jackdaw, it's not anonymous.
I'm not sure how it might be misused? I imagine mods would just ignore (or remove) posts that were improper.
People have done that at times and usually the post has already gone - similar to the one Woofgang commented on and presumably reported before posting this thread.
Quizproquo, people do occasionally put posts, usually in the Ed's Blog, saying that someone's spamming. They aren't anonymous, but it doesn't seem to deter people, and rightly so.
Who is bothered about anonymity? Not me. It's a pseudonym anyway.
Good point. I was thinking of answers and not just spam posts.
I know it can get a bit heated sometimes and I can't help thinking that personal spats would spill over sometimes.
Maybe I'm being a bit unfair, I don't know.
Actually, I cannot see the point in reporting spam. It is generally harmless and will soon be picked up. Abuse is a different matter.
Actually, the best spam I read, because I can read Russian, was one where they offered to double the length of my penis. Now be honest, what would I do with 34 inches?
Do you really need suggestions? or was that too subtle?
