Surely 8,000 is a rather conservative guesstimate, given that all previous similar predictions have proved to be considerably larger?
Given that some 600,000 Poles arrived here (research suggested there would be 13,000 per annum, in reality it was 200,000), are the fears that schools and hospitals will be unable to cope well founded?
Or will we just continue to take all and sundry and just 'get on with it'?

Paradoxically, they're incrdibly keen to label the UK census as "an anachronism" and/or a waste of public funds and get the whole thing scrapped.

On the other hand, some might say that gearing up to train lots of teachers and hospital staff in advance, only to find that the migrants head home to get their kids educated in their own language and culture and get cheaper childcare, would be a foolish thing for us to do.

That's just the ones recorded as employed. You can probably double or treble that number. Just like Labour before them, the Coalition are powerless to stop EU migration.
When UK industry was decimated in the 1980s and jobs were scarce here, hundreds of thousands of Brits went to Germany for jobs. The same thing in reversed is happening now.

Gromit...you are right. My brother was a brickie and just couldn't find work about 20 years ago, so he went to Germany to work. He did that for a few years and now he is back here home. He used to say that there was a pecking order in Germany. German workers were at the top, Brits were in the middle, and the Turks were at the bottom. He also said that his skills as a Brickie was very appreciated by his German bosses. He didn't find that there was any anti-Brit feelings at all, unlike here, where foreign workers seem to be treated with utter contempt. He also says that unemployment among German people was almost unheard of.

For what it's worth, baz, while I think you're going a bit too far I'm inclined to agree with you about the comments Laszlo Andor has made. I don't see a problem with short-term restrictions of benefits. While benefit tourism isn't a massive problem, it's still something we shouldn't want to encourage. All of the measures described in the article below seem reasonable to me, though possibly the small print goes a bit further -- or not far enough? I've not had a chance to look yet.

the eussr has but one aim and that is total and final domination of the UK, so it doesnt matter if today its the bulgarians or tomorrow somebody else its the grand master plan in its totality.
what some on here are probably overlooking is all those that arent bulgarians , romanians etc that will get into those two countries from non eussr countries and then come here claiming thats where they are from.
I'd imagine their border controls are even laxer than ours if that at all possible
