Hi, Fruitsalad....I had a hysterectomy at thirty six and was very ill immediately after. HRT sorted everything out very quickly and I stayed on it for twenty odd years. It was wonderful for me....gave me a life back.
The only side effect I had was breathlessness for the first few months. I don't think that back then this was considered to be a side effect but it was for me so I worked through it by gradually increasing the dose myself.
I do have friends who won't touch HRT...but I had the menopause from hell and loved what it did for me....x
Yes yes yes yes

Like gness, I had it all taken away at 50, 20-minute menopause before they slapped the patches on me, never a single symptom since. I was on them for about 10 years then the GP lowered the dose and weaned me off, a few years back. Brilliant, can't speak highly enough of it.

I am considering making a docs appointment next week ive only missed 3 periods but getting awful symptoms already very hot most of the time, cotton wool head, snappy, tearful
Go then, fruitsalad - you don't have to put up with the symptoms.
Horrible isn't it, FS? Changing sheets and showering in the middle of the night....memory of a goldfish....ready to commit murder for no reason. I must have been hell to live with....couple of weeks of patches and I was a gentle pussy cat again....well almost.... ;-)
fruitsalad, be not afraid...

//memory of a goldfish....ready to commit murder for no reason//

I've been like that since I was seventeen

Thanks guys I am going to make appointment with doctor
Good - let us know how you get on.
Good luck, FS....and god help us when Sloopy hits the menopause... ;-)
Yes and yes. I am currently taking a 1 month break after 12 months on HRT to see if my symptoms will return... they have :(
I will be going back onto HRT as soon as the doctor will give me a new prescription!
seriously, the best to you FS x

and a momentary red mist is perfectly normal - I do think mr sloop is being a bit of a drama queen shouting "christ, she's got a knife"
Oh gawd.

Not you fs, hope the HRT works for you.
The odd red mist is a must to keep them on their toes.....unpredictable red mists at that.
If MrG looked like he may take advantage of my new found niceness I threatened to leave off the patches for a few days...soon brought him to heel.... ;-)
