Afternoon everyone.

We're planning a little downtime "this evening"/tomorrow morning at 1am. Hopefully this won't effect the majority of you :)

The changes we're making:

1. Fixing the way the menu works.

3. We're splitting up your first name and last name in the database. Currently we've got a single field called "name". While this is fine, it means that often we can't be all that formal in Newsletters and the like. So, we're programmatically splitting the field into two. Tomorrow it would be worth checking to see how well we've done by visiting here:

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/user/edit_profile.php

And correcting your first name and last name. Don't forget to click "submit" at the bottom of the page before leaving!

4. We've tweaked the password recovery system and made some minor technical changes to the way our results appear in Google. You won't be able to see these changes immediately however, and there will be a further announcement when you can.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

It was them bony elbows!!
Morning Ed. So far the problems with the update are ends of words splitting, not being able to have < ducks > displayed properly and everything runs into one line, so when you hit the enter button to start a new line it just all runs together. It's going to make the News and various other threads interesting and difficult reading.
See ^^^^ ignore the that's the least of it. Thanks.
italics thingy with [i] at either side does not appear to be working either !!!
That should have been ignore the < ducks >
Here's an example to support what albaqwerty says: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Quizzes-and-Puzzles/Crosswords/Question1195082.html I typed a crossword explaation, carefully setting each step out on a new line to make it easy to follow. But when I submitted it, it all ran over into one line making it much more difficult to follow.
Ooo clicking a link doesn't open a separate tab anymore.
I am back to trailling on best answers....got 100 answers, only 96 showing.
As someone else said, all the lines are running into one. New paragraphs don't work. New paragraph - let's see if it works. I agree with Chuck and B00. Not a good idea to be able to edit posts after they're posted. People will hide a multitude of sins that way, and alterations after the event would result in gobbledegook - even more than usual I mean. ;o) Another new paragraph. I also agree with Ummmm. The return of the post preview would be good. At the moment I type long posts in a Word document - and then copy and paste.
^^ See. New paragraphs don't work. Not good for long and complex posts.
Text justification seems to have gone as well. See my answer on this thread: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Travel/Question1195092.html
