Good afternoon everyone. I hope we're all keeping well?

Posting Personal Details

I know we all get quite friendly on here sometimes - and in such cases it can become easy to feel very involved with everyone else on the site. Sometimes we come to like, and even trust each others.

Sometimes this means we'll be prone to giving away more information about ourselves than we should.

Please remember not to post details about your personal life such as your name, date of birth or contact details such as email addresses, phone numbers and real addresses.

Equally, please avoid giving away the details of other users. Doing so will result in a suspension - especially if it seen to be malicious. Not only is it dangerous, but it's a bit creepy!

Emailing During Suspension

We do not acknowledge suspended or banned users by email.

So, while it may be therapeutic to email us during your suspension, don't expect an email back!

Suspensions last a week to be reviewed on the following Monday.

Please accept that the rules apply to you, and that you might not be in the best position to judge whether you "deserved it" or not. Just enjoy your suspension.

All the best,

Spare Ed

I wouldn't consider a throw away email address to be personal details.
i think if we make it clear that is the nature of the contact information it ought to be allowed and most users would respect that...
you could type a disclaimer of sorts?

"The email address I am about to publish is not a link to my personal identity and has been created in order to contact an AB user, without this I would have no other way to instigate contact outside of this site."

something like that ;)
And back to the youtube videos.... this is a cool paint gun :)

Agree with Chuck, I wouldn't consider throw away email addresses personal, especialy if given by the user in question. However, I would consider someone publishing my actual details to be worthy of a ban. You get suspended for acting like a muppet or breaking minor Site Rules etc... I think that's a biggie rule to break and needs a harsher punishment.

This is an example of how to post a Youtube Video on to The AnswerBank...

Posting your own throw away email addresses are fine, as long as there is a disclaimer.

Chuck, I always subscribe - it's one of the handiest features of AB.

"Is there no system in place to permanently ban people?"

I expect not because it's not possible.

But then you'd need to get the personal details of the person to be able to find them, but putting personal details on here would get them banned so we'd end up with a banning paradox.

I see you went for the "pair-of-docs" rather than the more standard para-docs: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1016852.html

I am not sure why Chuck is talking about a low scoring hand of water-fowl. But then, maybe the chickens got wise?
