Self Scan Checkouts Are A Nightmare

I went shopping to Morrisons with my parents and what should have been an easy task took over 20 minutes with there being 1 person serving at the self scan checkouts of 8 people who all had problems at the same time such as incorrect item in bag, take the last item out of the bag item not recognised etc etc. Never again it should come with a health warning for people suffering from high blood pressure not to use them.

So if they are a nightmare don't use them no one is putting a price gun to your head and forcing you.
They're quick and easy, never had a problem with them

Some users cause the problems themselves by not placing scanned item in bag before scanning next one
I hate any shop where I have to serve myself. That's why I never go to B & Q.
You have to watch the Tesco hand scanners - sometimes they scan twice!

What anoys me that you have to scan multiples one by one!

And then "you have been selected for a security scan". Grrrrrrr!
I quite like them though, I must admit that Morrisons tend to have more issues then most. Might help I used to work on a checkout though :)

One thing I found was that if you lean against the bag area in Morrisons, especially if you have a big basket it seems to make them have a funny as it seems to thing the weight in the bag might be wrong. I found it didn't do it as much once I realised that! Easy to do if you are short and not so good on your feet.

I can't believe some of the shoplifting I see, some of it is just so blatant and some staff just don't seem to be bothered.
I heard that a favourite trick with loose goods was to put them through as something else, e.g. buy 6 avocados and put them through as onions.
I had to have my non alcoholic Cobra beer approved today........why?
Well you've all cheered me up, I'm being trained on Morrisons' self scan this week :-)

Seriously thought you are all right; our technology is very behind the times and does need updating. We have to use Hand Held Terminals (HHT) when counting or scanning stock and reducing items at the end of day; these machines work on Windows 97, take an age to fire up, lose signal constantly and are basically a pain in the posterior. Words with our manager don't seem to get very far up the scale.
Tilly - I believe it is because it has had alcohol in it, then removed but there could be a trace left behind!
......I like your Match and More card, though, Captain.
Morrison's is still my preferred supermarket...
Ah, right. Gotcha, Captain.
Non-alcohol beer is like decaffeinated coffee - pointless.
Ahh thanks Tilly and ummmm - I am but a mere 'colleague', not responsible for 'nuffink :-)
Got any good deals on the go, Captain ?.
The self service tills are very useful for getting rid of bags of coppers and 5p pieces- I buy something for maybe £2, pour in a bag of coins and it deducts the cost of my items then gives me change in the form of £! coins and silver.

Alcohol always causes a problem and sometimes it isn't clear whether BOGOF offers have been picked up as they don't get dducted until the ned, but I find even with frustrating hold ups it's still quicker than joining a long queue
Know what the shop lifters are doing now.

You get 5 pairs of knickers in a bag - steal 2 pairs out - rustle up the remaining 3 - put them back - walk out with knickers in your pocket and go by the security in Sainsburys.
I'll remember that advice should I ever embrace transvestism.
I prefer FF's way of getting Knickers (Pounds) ;-)
Blackadder, I buy the non-alcoholic beer for my Dad. He is not allowed alcohol but likes the taste of the Cobra. Therefore, there is a point. It keeps my Dad relatively happy.
