Visibility is perhaps a subjective criterion and will mean different things to different people, however the brightest stars in close proximity to the Moon during the Eclipse would have been within the constellation Leo (such as Regulus and Algieba). The planet Saturn was close to Regulus at the time.

Further afield would have been the bright stars of Canis Minor (Procyon) and Gemini (Castor and Pollux)
